There are a number of small things that you can do every day that will improve you and your family's health and fitness. By taking just one piece of the following advice, you can live better and even live longer.

Review your family's diet. Make sure they are getting a healthy, balanced diet, low in saturated fats, salt and sugar content. This may not mean huge changes, but just in how you cook your meals. Look for low calorie recipes as a starter. This will make your family healthier and help you find a slimmer you.

Taking exercise, whether aerobic, cardio vascular or muscle toning, is essential for a healthy lifestyle. It's important that you start gradually though, so take the stairs instead of the lift, walk the kids to school and pick up the speed when you're walking. In no time, you will be ready for swimming, running and cycling marathons!

Give up those external elements you know will cause you health problems; quit smoking, reduce caffeine and avoid stress. There are many support routes out there - quit smoking classes through the NHS, nicotine patches, counselling, even hypnotherapy and acupuncture. Switching caffeine filled drinks with herbal teas will make a huge difference. Relaxation exercises to combat stress will also help you to improved wellbeing.
